The production of Lithium-Ion Batteries is increasing, and we have developed a brand-new fibre that will help the Lead-Acid Battery keep pace.
By incorporating Primafloc+ into your battery, it will improve the charge acceptance and help combat water loss without losing any of the physical benefits our traditional fibres deliver.
Polymeric Fibres are used in Lead Acid Batteries as a physical reinforcement of the plate which offers the battery strength rigidity and helps fight against severe road conditions and more.
Primafloc+ has some rather impressive benefits, including:
• Charge Acceptance – +19.4% improvement
• Water Loss (over 21 days) – +50% improvement
• Reserve Capacity – +2.2% improvement
• Endurance – +2.4% improvement
• Cranking – +6.6%
• Increased Dosage meaning Increased Performance
Of course, with every new product that we engineer, we need to carry out a series of tests, which are designed to show you just how it performs against other products on the market today.
We conducted four main tests which included Water Loss Testing, Capacity, Cranking and Endurance Testing, Charge Acceptance and Physical Testing.
Water Loss Testing:
The positive results of this test meant that the battery would require lower maintenance and lead a longer life due to minimal gassing and lower temperature of the battery.
The results of the test (Compare to Control, No Fibre):
- Standard Fibre (P6/30) – +100%
- Carbon Fibre – +238%
- Primafloc+ – 0% (unchanged)
Capacity, Cranking and Endurance Testing:
This test looks at the effects on the batterie performance characteristics in its capacity, cranking and endurance compared against polymer fibres.
The results (Compare to Control, Standard Fibre: P6/30):
- Reserve Capacity – +2.2%
- C20 – <2.0% Change
- Cranking (V5s) – <2.0% Change
- Cranking (t6V) – +6.6%
- Endurance – +2.4%
- Carbon Fibre) – -9.8%
Endurance Testing:
With this test, we investigated the ease of charging and discharging a battery. Positive results show less sulfation on the plates and are therefore more efficient. This test Is particularly important due to the growth of electrification in vehicles being on the rise.
The results from this test (Compared to Control, No Fibre):
- Standard Fibre (P6/30) – -9.5%
- Carbon Fibre – -2.1%
- Primafloc+ – +9.5%
- Increase vs Standard Fibre P6/30 – +19.4%
Physical Test:
The final, and what we believe to be one of the most important tests of them all, saw us simulating severe road conditions by causing vigorous vibration to the plates.
The end results from this test concluded that the ‘No Fibre Reinforcement’ plate lost an average of 35% of its active material compared to the plate that was reinforced with Primafloc+.
There is a range of different batteries this product could be applicable for, and these are EFB, AGM, Wet and Gel.
