South West UK based Goonvean Fibres Ltd, a leading fibre manufacturer, is proud to announce it has earned a silver level of recognition for its corporate social responsibility and business sustainability from EcoVadis, the world’s most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings, intelligence, and collaborative performance improvement tools for global supply chains.

The Silver award constitutes the top 25 percent, however, Goonvean Fibres has been placed in the top 15 percent of all companies rated by EcoVadis.

About EcoVadis

EcoVadis has created a global network of more than 75,000 rated companies. The organisation’s sustainability scorecards provide detailed insight into environmental, social, and ethical risks across more than 200 purchasing categories and over 160 countries. The objective of the EcoVadis assessment is to assess the quality of a company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) management system.

Under the assessment, EcoVadis focuses on four different themes – Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement – in the management layers of policies, actions, and reporting on results. Several management indicators are assessed within these layers, including policies, endorsements, measures, certifications, coverage (deployment of actions), reporting, and 360° watch findings.

Goonvean Fibres scored well across the board, but particularly highly on sustainable procurement, reflecting the company’s focus on integrating the principles of CSR into procurement processes and decisions.

Our Corporate Social Responsibility

At Goonvean Fibres, we believe strongly in ‘giving something back’ to the community, whether that’s on a local or global scale.

We are proud to say we are sustainable manufacturers of precision cut fibres and powders. We produce a high-quality product in the most economical way possible, which as well as being a more sustainable and environmentally friendly way to operate, has the added benefit of keeping costs as low as possible for our customers, contractors, and partners.

Additionally, we aim to operate an efficient facility that is predominantly fuelled on renewable energy to reduce our environmental impact. We have solar PV (photovoltaic) panels that use sunlight to source clean and renewable energy. The PV panels generate the electricity that supplies the entire factory, with enough energy leftover to supply back to the grid.

We pride ourselves on our commitment to sustainable production and ethical behaviour, as well as our dedication to improving the quality of life for our workforce, their families, and the local and global communities in which we operate.
